Singer Michael Jackson Gets Sued Again

Raymone Bain, the publicist and general manager of singer Michael Jackson, has filed a $44 million lawsuit against him stating that he did not pay her for the deals that she has made. She says that she has been working for him for more than five years as his spokeswoman, publicist, head of Michael Jackson Co. Inc, and personal general manager. She claims that Jackson agreed to pay her 10 percent of the agreements that she handled. He also didn't pay her for negotiating the release of his CD to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his "Thriller" album, refinancing his loan to keep the Beatles' song catalog, and negotiations of a concert series in London.

NASA Launching Music Into Space

On Monday, NASA will broadcast the Beatles song “Across the Universe” across the galaxy to the North Star, Polaris. This would be the first time that a song has ever been beamed by the space agency into deep outer space. It would celebrate the 40th anniversary of the song, the 45th anniversary of NASA’s Deep Space Network, and the 50th anniversary of NASA.

The song would be traveling at the speed of light and would take 431 years to reach Polaris. Polaris is 2.5 quadrillion miles away from Earth. The song would be transmitted digitally at 7 p.m. EST on Monday from a giant antenna in Madrid, Spain. For a person to hear the song on Polaris, they would need an antenna and a receiver for it to be converted back to music.

The original idea came from a man named Martin Lewis, a Los Angeles Beatles historian. He asked for permission from McCartney, Yoko Ono, and two companies that own the rights to the Beatles’ music. The Apple Company was happy to approve the idea.

Couple Celebrates 80th Anniversary

In Scottsboro, a couple recently celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary and entered the Guinness Book of World Records as one of the longest marriages in living couples.

Alonzo, age 97, and Beulah Sims, 94, celebrated their anniversary on Sunday at the nursing home where they have lived since 2002. They got married in 1927 and raised six children. They say owe their long lives to working on their farm and eating a lot of vegetables and claim that through their marriage they have had very few arguments because they didn’t have the time to fight.
