Issues Surrounding Custody of Michael Jackson's Children

The popular singer Michael Jackson died this past Thursday due to cardiac arrest and a possible drug overdose. Currently, there are issues surrounding who will care for his three children surrounding his untimely death. The decision will ultimately be left up to the courts to decide. The children are currently in the care of the extended Jackson family.

The person who has the strongest legal claim to his two oldest children, named Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. and Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, is their mother and Jackson's ex-wife named Deborah Rowe. She will have to have an evaluation done by the court to decide if she is the best person to care for the children. It is possible that the children may not go to her since the final decision is up to the court and they decide who is the best choice for the children to live with. Rowe has not had a close relationship with the children.

It is not known who the mother of the youngest child is, named Prince Michael II, but it is possible that she may not have signed away her parental rights even though she was a surrogate mother. It is not currently known who Jackson designated as the guardians of his children in his will. Jackson's will may have been done many years ago.
