Singer Natalie Cole Receives Kidney Transplant

The singer Natalie Cole has undergone a kidney transplant and is doing well. She plans to postpone her summer tour, which was scheduled to start June 5 and last until November, while she recovers. She has been receiving dialysis treatments three times each week since September, which is unrelated to her diagnosis of hepatitis C. She announced that she had hepatitis C last year and said that the damaging liver disease was likely due to her previous drug use. She has received chemotherapy to treat the hepatitis disease and had kidney failure within four months of treatment. Without a kidney donor, she would have needed dialysis treatment for the rest of her life. A company called One Legacy, which is a regional organ-procurement agency, was able to find a kidney for her.

Man Finds Fried Mouse in His Food

It is reported that a man, named Jack Hines, found a deep-fried mouse in his bag of barbecue potato chips. The man says he was snacking on his chips when he pulled out the crispy mouse. He said that he had pulled it out of the bag and was about to put it is mouth when he felt the fur on it and brought it back down and threw it behind his chair.

Frito-Lay sent a representative to get the bag and mouse this past weekend. Both will be shipped to the company headquarters for further investigation. The Frito-Lay spokesperson says that the man had the bag for more than two weeks and opened it a week before he found the mouse.

Hines claims he found maggots on the the mouse and chips only a day after eating the chips and he says that he only plans to visit a doctor in this case only if he gets sick. Also he hasn't decided if he is going to get an attorney to handle the matter.

A similar case happened earlier this year when it was reported that a mouse had chewed its way into a chip bag after it had left the Frito-Lay plant.
