Singer Michael Jackson Not the Biological Father of His Kids

It has been revealed that the deceased singer Michael Jackson is not the biological father of this three children. Also, Debbie Rowe is not the biological mother of the two oldest children. She was a surrogate mother for the children. She gave birth to them even though neither her eggs or Michael's sperm were used for any of the children. All three of the children were conceived using in vitro fertilization and it is not known if Jackson chose the sperm and egg donors or if he knew who they even were. Rowe was married to Jackson when the two oldest children were born so it is presumed that she the mother of the children.

It has also been released that even though Jackson is considered to be a father to the children since he raised them, he never filed legal papers to adopt any of the three children. It is assumed that he didn't do it because he thought that there was no third party that would try to claim custody and never thought that Rowe would want a custody challenge.

Singer Natalie Cole Receives Kidney Transplant

The singer Natalie Cole has undergone a kidney transplant and is doing well. She plans to postpone her summer tour, which was scheduled to start June 5 and last until November, while she recovers. She has been receiving dialysis treatments three times each week since September, which is unrelated to her diagnosis of hepatitis C. She announced that she had hepatitis C last year and said that the damaging liver disease was likely due to her previous drug use. She has received chemotherapy to treat the hepatitis disease and had kidney failure within four months of treatment. Without a kidney donor, she would have needed dialysis treatment for the rest of her life. A company called One Legacy, which is a regional organ-procurement agency, was able to find a kidney for her.

First Face Transplant Done in America

In Cleveland, reconstructive surgeon Dr. Maria Siemionow and a team of specialists performed the first face face transplant done in America by replacing 80 percent of a disfigured woman's face by using the face of a female cadaver. Many details of the surgery have not been released but surgeons that do this usually transplant skin, facial nerves, muscles, and other deep tissue.

Skin is considered an organ and it still runs the risk of the body rejecting it, as with other organ transplants. Recipients of transplants have the risk of deadly complications, such as the new facial tissue attacking the recipient's body and the recipient's body attacking the bone marrow or the transplanted face to cause inflammation at the area of the new tissue. They also have to take immune-suppressing drugs for the rest of their lives to prevent the body rejecting the organ. This raises the risk of cancer and other diseases.

This is the fourth one done worldwide. Two have been done in France and one was done in China. The first one was a partial face transplant done in France in 2005 on a woman who had been mauled by her dog and received a new nose, chin, and lips from a brain-dead donor. Another was done in France on man disfigured by a genetic disease. One was done in China on a farmer that had been disfigured by being mauled by a bear.
