Former model, Tyra Banks, says that she will be ending the syndicated “The Tyra Show” after its fifth season. She plans to still work with the reality show “America’s Next Top Model” and she is making a new production studio with plans to make movies. She also has plans for new digital projects.

Michael Jackson's Mother Files for Guardianship of Children

Katherine Jackson, the mother of deceased singer Michael Jackson, has filed a petition for guardianship of his three children. The petition states that the children don't have a relationship with their biological mother. Katherine is currently taking care of the children and has a long established relationship with them. She has also filed to become the administrator of Michael's estate to make sure that his children are the beneficiaries. Her husband Joe Jackson has joined the petition to try to designate Katherine as the the keeper of Michael's estate.

Singer Erykah Badu Has New Baby

This past Sunday, the singer Erykah Badu gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She said that she gave birth at home without the use of painkillers and the labor lasted five hours. The father of the child is Badu's boyfriend who is the rapper Jay Electronica. Badu also has a son and daughter from previous relationships.

First Face Transplant Done in America

In Cleveland, reconstructive surgeon Dr. Maria Siemionow and a team of specialists performed the first face face transplant done in America by replacing 80 percent of a disfigured woman's face by using the face of a female cadaver. Many details of the surgery have not been released but surgeons that do this usually transplant skin, facial nerves, muscles, and other deep tissue.

Skin is considered an organ and it still runs the risk of the body rejecting it, as with other organ transplants. Recipients of transplants have the risk of deadly complications, such as the new facial tissue attacking the recipient's body and the recipient's body attacking the bone marrow or the transplanted face to cause inflammation at the area of the new tissue. They also have to take immune-suppressing drugs for the rest of their lives to prevent the body rejecting the organ. This raises the risk of cancer and other diseases.

This is the fourth one done worldwide. Two have been done in France and one was done in China. The first one was a partial face transplant done in France in 2005 on a woman who had been mauled by her dog and received a new nose, chin, and lips from a brain-dead donor. Another was done in France on man disfigured by a genetic disease. One was done in China on a farmer that had been disfigured by being mauled by a bear.

Singer Usher and Wife Have New Baby

The singer Usher and his wife Tameka have welcomed a new baby boy into the world on Wednesday. The baby was named Naviyd Ely Raymond and was born weighing 5 pounds and 13 ounces. This is the couple's second child. Their first child was born last November. Tameka also has three children from a previous marriage.

Singer Natalie Cole Released from Hospital

The singer Natalie Cole has been released from the hospital this week and was able to go home. She is currently suffering from hepatitis C but has been receiving kidney dialysis that isn’t related to the hepatitis. She was hospitalized due to problems she was having with the medicine she was taking and having a busy schedule to promote her new album, called “Still Unforgettable.”

In July, she announced that she had hepatitis C and it was found during a routine examination. The disease is likely caused by her past drug use. Hepatitis C is a liver disease that is spread by contact with infected blood.

Singer Jennifer Hudson Engaged

The singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has gotten engaged to her boyfriend David Otunga. He asked her to marry him while celebrating her 27th birthday in Los Angeles on Friday. They have not set a wedding date yet. David Otunga was a contestant called “Punk” on the VH1 reality dating show called “I Love New York 2.”

The actor David Spade has become the father of a baby girl on August 26th . The mother is Playboy playmate Jillian Grace. The two had a short relationship and Spade agreed to accept responsibility of the child if it was confirmed that he was father. The Actor Matt Damon's wife Luciana gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday. The baby was named Gia Zavala Damon. The couple married in December of 2005 in New York and have a daughter named Isabella that was born in June of 2006. Luciana also has a daughter named Alexa from a previous marriage.

The American Idol winner Ruben Studdard is set to get married on Saturday to his fiancé, named Surata Zuri McCants. The couple obtained a marriage license on Monday. Studdard has already released three albums since he won on the show American Idol in 2003. He is currently working on a new album.

This month a new version of the iPhone will be available on the market. The iPhone 2.0 will have 3G wireless technology that will allow faster Internet access and surfing capabilities. A new study from Japan finds that outgoing people are more at risk for being overweight and there is a link between weight, body mass index, and personality. The study is based on more than 30,000 people in northeastern Japan who were between the ages of 40 and 64. They were quizzed on their height and weight and given a personality test. The test concluded that outgoing men were 1.73 times more likely to be obese and outgoing women were 1.53 times more likely to be obese than people that were worriers.

New Pig Species Found by Scientist

A Dutch Scientist says that he found a new species of wild pig that is almost twice the size of other pigs in the Amazon region of Brazil The pig is four feet long and weighs about 90 pounds. He says that he made the discovery on accident while looking for a new monkey species.

LL Cool J Gets New Show

It is reported that CBS is close to picking up LL Cool J's new show called "The Man." The show is about LL as an undercover Los Angeles cop who takes care of an orphan boy. The pilot didn't make the cut in May but it is expected to be reworked and episodes should be shot by the end of the year.
