Oprah Winfrey’s Network Sued for Discrimination

A woman, named Catherine Dunn who was an assistant at OWN, is suing Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network because she claims that she was subjected to a hostile work environment due to her suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. She claims that during her employment there she was forced to take a stress leave and a leave of absence because of her MS symptoms were exacerbated because of stress in the workplace. She says that when she was out on leave, she was replaced with a non-disabled and younger worker. Dunn is suing for wrongful termination and asking for unspecified damages.

Oprah Winfrey Sued for $1 Trillion

Oprah Winfrey is being sued for $1 trillion by author Damon Lloyd Goffe who claims that she plagiarized his book "A Tome of Poetry" in her Internet-published work called "Pieces of my Soul." He has reported in legal papers that she admitted to using his original works in 2008. Goffe claims that Winfrey sold approximately 650 million copies of her work online for $20, so he is owed $1.2 trillion even though the website that sold Winfrey's work is no longer available.

Oprah Winfrey’s Mother Getting Sued for Unpaid Bill

A high-end clothing store in Brookfield, Wisconsin named Valentina is suing Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, for not paying a bill. A civil complaint states that she owes the store nearly $156,000 for purchases and interest as of July 1st and has not made the monthly minimum payment of $2,000. A nonbinding mediation session is scheduled for September 16th.

Oprah Winfrey Getting Her Own Television Network

Oprah Winfrey is set to own her own television network. Discovery Communications and Winfrey made a deal where the Discovery Health network will be turned over to Winfrey next year. The deal didn’t involve any money but involved Winfrey turning over her Web site to Discovery. Winfrey will also be named chairman of the network. The new Oprah run network will focus on educating and inspiring people to live the best life they can.

Oprah Talks about Her Thyroid Problem

Oprah has chosen to go public about her hyperthyroid condition that has caused her to gain weight by slowing down her metabolism. She says that at first her condition sped up her metabolism and made it difficult to sleep. Then her metabolism slowed down and made her tired most of the time and caused her to gain 20 pounds. She decided to take a break for a month in Hawaii to feel better and get rest and take a break from her stressful career. She has also decided to talk about her condition on her talk show.
