Priest Caught With 7.7 Pounds of Coke Arrested

A Catholic priest was arrested on Friday at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport after he was caught carrying 7.7 pounds of cocaine under his robes. At first, the priest refused to go through the routine body check for religious reasons. The man was then seen lining up at a different entrance gate. He was stopped and searched and drugs were found in packages taped to his body.

The priest was traveling from Bolivia and argued that his rights were violated by the search. When traveling to Europe, a person can’t refuse a body search and has to pass a security check.

Online Church Collections

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese church in Cincinnati, Ohio has made online collections an option for its 230 parishes and 110 parochial and diocesan schools in their 19 county region. They want to make giving easier for people and for them to be more regular in giving to the church. They will still keep the collection basket during Mass. This change is suppose to go with the modern changes in society and technology and with less people carrying cash and more people using credit cards and ATM cards and the Internet to make transactions. Some churches around the nation already have ATMs placed inside their church.

Girl Survives Rabies

It is reported in Fond Du Lac, WI that a girl named Jeanna Giese was bitten by a bat in church and was given rabies. She was not hospitalized until a month after she was bitten and doctors put her in a coma and gave her antiviral drugs and other medications to keep her nerve cells from dying. She spent two months in intensive care before returning home.

It is considered a miracle that she was able to live for a month without any vaccination. Usually rabies victims need vaccination very soon after they are bitten. Rabies is a viral disease that attacks the nervous system and is usually fatal once the symptoms start to develop.
