Jackson Estate Opposes Allowance for Joe Jackson

The estate of late singer Michael Jackson has opposed a bid from his father Joe Jackson to receive a monthly allowance, stating that it would take money away from Michael Jackson's three children. Joe Jackson is seeking to get more than $15,000 each month from his son's estate. The papers that were filed fail to show that Micheal supported him while he was alive and that Michael omitted his father as a beneficiary in his will and trust. Joe filed for the monthly stipend in November claiming that he had very little income and relied on his son to help him with his living costs. He wants $1,200 per month for rent for his Las Vegas home, $2,500 to eat out, $1,000 for entertainment expenses, gifts, and vacations, $2,000 for air travel, and $3,000 for hotel expenses.

Any money that would be paid to Joe would reduce the estate's assets that are for Micheal's mother and his children. The beneficiaries of the estate are Michael's children, his mother, and various unnamed charities. Micheal's mother, Katherine Jackson, and his children are receiving more than $86,000 per month and administrators want to increase the monthly stipends.

Ledger’s Will Leaves Nothing to Daughter

It is found that the actor Heath Ledger’s will leaves nothing to his 2 year old daughter and former girlfriend, Michelle Williams; because it wasn’t updated after he met Williams. A copy of the will shows that Leger left everything he had to his parents and three sisters. Ledger’s father has said that the family would make sure that Williams and their daughter would be taken care of.

It is estimated that his belongings are valued at $145,000. This amount includes a $25,000 Toyota Prius, $20,000 worth of furniture and fixtures, and $100,000 in bank accounts. The only debt he had when he died was the rent he owed for February for the New York apartment where he died on Jan 22nd. He had died of an accidental overdose of prescription medication.

James Brown’s Possessions Auctioned

James Brown’s possessions are set to be appraised and auctioned to pay for taxes that his estate owes. It is not clear which items will be auctioned yet or how much the items are worth. Brown died in Atlanta in December of 2006 and his will stated that he wanted his possessions to be divided between his six adult children. His fourth wife, Toni Rae Hynie, contested the will and claims that she is entitled to half of the estate. His children are also contesting the will, which was signed 10 months before Brown died. Trustees have asked Brown’s children and Hynie to make a list of the items that they don’t want to be auctioned.
