Rapper 50 Cent Sues Taco Bell

The rapper 50 Cent is suing Taco Bell because he says that the restaurant has used his name without his permission in their advertising that asks him to call himself 99 Cent. In a federal lawsuit, he also claimed that the Taco Bell print ad features him asking to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent, or 99 Cent. The ad is part of a Taco Bell "Why Pay More?" campaign that promotes items that cost less than a dollar.

The company supposedly sent a bogus letter that requested the name change to the news media but not to 50 Cent. He didn't find out about the letter or that he was featured in the ad campaigns until he saw a news report about it. He wants $4 million in damages.

50 Cent Passes Drug Test

The rapper 50 Cent is able to take his son on vacation after passing a court-ordered drug test. He was in a Long Island courtroom on Thursday to ask a judge for permission to take his 11 year old son, Marquise, on a trip scheduled for next month. A drug test was ordered and came back clean.

Marquise lives with his mother, Shaniqua Tompkins. She recently blamed 50 Cent for a fire that destroyed the Long Island mansion where she and their son was living. 50 Cent denied any accusations. After the fire, six people, including Shaniqua and Marquise, were treated for smoke inhalation.

50 Cent Orders His Record Label to Buy His New Album

It is reported that during a conference call, 50 Cent told his record label that they were being cheap with marketing his new record, called Curtis, and told them that either they buy 300,000 copies of it or he will leave the label. Since 50 Cent is currently one of Interscope’s most popular artists, they say they are willing to increase their post-production budget. Music Industry experts expect that Kanye West will sell about 750,000 copies of his record this week and 50 Cent will sell about 600,000 copies without the Interscope purchase.

50 Cent Was Bankrupt before the Vitamin Water Deal

It is reported that hip hop artist 50 Cent had serious financial problems earlier this year. He was spending millions of dollars on his Connecticut mansion, on members of his entourage, and personal security. 50 Cent was broke with a lot of assets and very little cash. His accountants even suggested that he sell some of his assets.

He put up his Connecticut mansion for sale and sold some of his luxury cars. He was even thinking of selling his interest in G-Unit Records. Luckily he didn’t have to sell anything because Coca Cola announced a $4.1B cash offer for Vitamin Water, which is an "enhanced water" company which 50 Cent owned a minority stake. He gained about $40 million dollars from the deal.

Since then, 50 Cent has taken his mansion and almost all of his luxury cars off the market. Only his silver Lamborghini is still up for sale.

50 Cent Throws a Tantrum

It is reported that yesterday 50 Cent had a violent incident inside of his G-Unit offices. He was angry that the video for his new song with Robin Thicke, Follow My Lead, was leaked to the internet. He was complaining about the leak to execs at Interscope Records when he flipped out. He tore the plasma television off the wall, screamed at the Interscope execs, and threw a phone through the Manhattan Office's plate glass window.
