Family Sues Over Staph Death

The family of a boy who died this month from an antibiotic-resistant staphylococcus infection plans to file a $25 million dollar lawsuit against the cit of New York. They say that the boy was misdiagnosed at Kings County Hospital Center when he was taken there to be treated. The boy died on October 14th at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.

The boy was taken to the hospital by his mother after not being satisfied with the treatment the boy received at a clinic. The doctor at the hospital thought that he was dealing with an allergic reaction instead of an infection. The boy was treated with Benedryl, an anti-allergy medicine. Even though there were visible skin lesions, the doctor didn’t order any blood work to be done. A representative from the hospital claims that the boy didn’t have any signs of a staph infection when he was brought in.
