Beheaded Snake Sends Man to Hospital

It is reported in Prosser, Washington that a man named Danny Anderson was feeding his horses when he found a 5-foot rattle snake on his property. He and his son, Benjamin, pinned the snake with an irrigation pipe and cut off its head with a shovel. When Danny bent down and picked up the head of the beheaded snake, it rose around and bit his finger. He had to shake his hand very hard to get it to let go.

By the time he arrived at Prosser Memorial Hospital, his tongue was swollen and the venom was already spreading. He was taken by ambulance to a Richland hospital to get the six shots he needed.

It is reported that the area where Anderson lives is near a prime snake habitat. Instead of picking up the snake head he should have buried it where it was.
